	Bobbed hairstyles were not compatable with hair which has a natural curl or tends to 'frizz' With the help of heat and chemicals most women were able to choose a hairstyle. It is worth repeating, that most hairstyles you will see in photographs are hybrids of two or more styles. The unkindly named Poodle cut and the wilder version based on the windswept look were worn by women whose hair dictated that they should not choose other styles. It was short it was off the shoulders it was nineteen-twenties. In the next decade tight perms and curls were in vogue. It would be half a century later before young British men and women would adopt what was to be called the Afro hairstyle.
